Word Cup 2 - Baku, Azerbaijan

GOLD!!   Chris Remkes has won a gold medal in the finals for the Mans Vault. What a terrific achievement.  CCGC congratulates Chris. It is so exciting to see all the hard work Chris puts in is now earning him rewards.

Now Chris and the others travel to Doha to compete in the 3rd World Cup.

The WAG team also performed fantastically. Emily Little won Silver on Vault, Rianna Mizzen with a Silver on Uneven bars and Georgia-Rose Brown with a Bronze medal on uneven bars.


The second World Cup event has begun and so far the Australian gymnasts are going a great job.


The qualification rounds are over. In the WAG Emily Little has qualified 2nd in Vault, 6th on Beam and 3rd on Floor, Georgia-Rose Brown qualified 3rd on Bars and Rianna Mizzen qualified 4th.

In the MAG Chris Remkes has qualified 3rd on floor and 2nd on Vault, Clay Mason Stephens performed strongly in Pbars to finish the qualification rounds in 11th, while Mitchell Morgans qualified in 6th on horizontal bar .  And on the rings Michael Tone finished in 12th position.

The finals should be very exciting. 

World Cup 1 - Melbourne

The first of the 2017 World Cup Gymnastics events was held in Melbourne on the 22, 23, 24 and 25 Feb.

The format of this competition is Individual Apparatus only.

There were competitors from 9 countries, including China and Japan, Netherlands, Hungary and New Zealand. 

The Australians fielded a team 12 gymnasts.  The women were awarded 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medal.  The men won 2 silver medals


This is the first of 3 years of World Cup events in Melbourne and about 40 Canberra City Gymnastics Club members, gymnasts and coaches made the trip to Melbourne to watch some fantastic gymnastics.

We can't wait until the 2018 World Cup. This will be a qualifier for the 2020 Toyko Olympics so expect even more teams to make the trip to Melbourne.
